A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytani ‘r-rajeem. Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmani ‘r-Raheem.
Nawaytu ‘l-arba`een, nawaytu ‘l-`itikaaf, nawaytu ‘l-khalwah, nawaytu ‘l-`uzlah,
nawaytu ‘r-riyaada, nawaytu ‘s-salook, lillahi ta’ala al-`Azheem fee hadha ‘l-masjid.
For microphones, we spend hours to make it up to the point, but what about us? If a little problem arises, Awliyaullah are ready to clean it and take care of it. That’s a big job from a Wali to his mureed.
There is a story Grandshaykh (q) used to tell: Shaykh Sharafuddin (q) ordered one of his mureeds into seclusion to test how much sabr he had. The mureed said to himself, “It is easy, forty days eating this and that, I can manage it.” When the forty days were finished, that man came out of his seclusion to meet his shaykh, whom he was so happy to see after forty days.
The shaykh prepared food on a tray and ordered the mureed to eat with him. Look at the honor he was giving, to sit and eat with the shaykh without an invitation. Nowadays, they have to send you a business card invitation you; without it are not admitted. The mureed didn’t have a business card, but the shaykh closed his eye a little on his mureed to teach him a lesson.
The mureed was fixing the food that the shaykh had left behind, and when the shaykh came out he ordered the follower to eat it. The follower said to himself, “What is this? I have complete food on a tray and he is inviting me to eat lentils (seclusion food), when on the other side I have so much other food.” But you cannot control these lentils, you might lose them. He thought, “Dunya will close itself on me and I will be left alone, so I want to see if the food in that seclusion will be enough or not.”
As soon as he thought that, the shaykh appeared and said, “What are you complaining about? The one who looked after you for forty days will help you for another forty days if you want another seclusion.”
You cannot say, “This (new situation) is from my shaykh,” because this is from you (your doubt).
In that moment, a frog came out of the wall and said to him, “Yaa Majnoon! Your shaykh offered you good food (lentils), but you went after your desire for lower-level food! Since you are thinking about your sustenance, you can spend another forty days in seclusion.”
Grandshaykh said the mureed took his shoes and tried to kill the frog; after forty days of khalwah he wanted to kill the frog! [Laughter.] So he hit it, although it came out from the wall laughing and speaking the best Arabic, and the mureed didn’t speak any, but in his seclusion, Allah gave him the power to communicate to every animal.
The shaykh said, “I gave you food for forty days, and you cannot give me food in return, but you looked at yourself, and you attacked that frog which was saying the truth, and you worried more about whether there is enough food for you and the frog.”
That is how he lost his way to the level of Awliya, but could continue the khalwah for normal people. There are hidden secrets behind the truth, it depends from which angle you look at it. Be careful how you look at things so you may achieve your spiritual reality.
Awliya are not easy. All of us say we met a Wali, and if you did, you have to be a Wali too or he will hide himself from you. Unless you are a Wali, you will be asked so many questions. Awliya say it is better to be away from the Wali, because to be a shaykh is so difficult that you can lose your power in front of them, like when that frog that appeared asking for the shaykh’s forgiveness after appearing from that hole.
For us, we don’t care: we do everything and say, “The shaykh will support me and save me,” but he will not unless you finish your adab every day; otherwise, you will be beaten up. Tariqah is that not easy as there are so many levels of secrets.
Nawaytu ‘l-arba`een, nawaytu ‘l-`itikaaf, nawaytu ‘l-khalwah, nawaytu ‘l-`uzlah,
nawaytu ‘r-riyaada, nawaytu ‘s-salook, lillahi ta’ala al-`Azheem.
Tariqah must carry all these Six Levels of secrets. Grandshaykh (q) mentioned one of these levels is enough for the whole world. One cannot be a Wali unless he completes the Six Powers: Haqiqat al-Jazba, Haqiqat al-Fayd, Haqiqat at-Tawajjuh, Haqiqat at-Tawassul, Haqiqat at-Tayy, Haqiqat al-Irshad. Then he is entitled to speak with the frog and any friendly animal, and may Allah make us always friendly. Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmani ’r-Raheem. To enter that door Awliya are opening for us you need a key and then the Secret of Oceans will open.
They speak about cold weather: it will become more and more cold, so we have to be careful. Alhamdulillah, we have connected ourselves with Mawlana Shaykh Nazim and Grandshaykh `AbdAllah al-Fa’iz ad-Daghestani (q). We know they are not normal people; we can understand normal people easily, but it is very difficult to understand what Awliyaullah want. But this is how it works: Awliya show you difficulty and then relief, and when you give your hand to the shaykh he gives you the Six Powers. We hope for all of us to be shaykh, but they don’t grant it to us.
How many levels of powers must you pass to reach the Reality of your shaykh? First is Haqiqat al-Jazbah, the Power of Attraction; and then Haqiqat al-Fayd, which is the Reality of Down-Pouring, to receive the Manifestation of the Heavens, of what is above you and what is below you of asraar, secrets, and you begin to receive these slowly. Then you can get next power, Haqiqat at-Tawajjuh, the Power of Focusing, when you direct your face to anything and you are able to bring things, move them, or reach them. Even if a person is in China and the recipient is here in London, you can reach and pull them to you with this power. Don’t ask how, just understand. Then Haqiqat at-Tawassul, the Power of Intercession, to ask Prophet (s) and Allah to open shifaa for that person who is asking.
Haqiqat at-Tawajjuh is the Power of Focusing, which brings someone to you from wherever they are. Those who are unable to do that call on their shaykh and he will not leave them without support.
Every Wali mentions the following story. Two Walis visited their relatives in a village, and in those days people didn’t move about outside after Maghrib, they tied their horses to a tree and went to sleep, because shayateen go out then. Now everyone goes out after Maghrib, and shayateen are causing so much trouble, especially one group of shayateen, taifa, who are conquering the Earth now. Grandshaykh (q) used to call them “hasku zalalteel”. What is the meaning? They know the meaning of that. Through this word people will be saved, don’t call on them, for Sayyidina Hazzaz is the jinn Wali responsible for Ummat an-Nabi (s).
So these two were late to cross the river and did know know what to do.
The higher one said, “Yaa akhi, why are you worried? Let us walk.”
“Where do you want me to walk?”
He said, “Here.”
He began to walk, and then they found themselves walking on the river to reach the other side, and for Awliyaullah to teach that to their followers they need them to reach the Six Powers. Then we have Haqiqat al-Irshaad, the Reality of Guidance, to guide people towards Allah and His Prophet (s). Not everyone can do that, only some. You can write volumes to explain it.
Allah (swt) gave Ummat an-Nabi (s):
مَا لاَ عَيْنٌ رَأَتْ، وَلاَ أُذُنٌ سَمِعَتْ، وَلاَ خَطَرَ عَلَى قَلْبِ بَشَرٍ
No eye has seen and no ear heard and never imagined (by mind), nor has it occurred to the human heart. (Bukhari)
You can see what they want from you, but you cannot reach the Reality unless you reach the Six Powers. Barakah brought you here today, not to stay at your home, as to visit our Muslim brothers is Sunnat an-Nabi (s) and a way to reach higher spiritual levels in Paradise that take you to the Divine Presence with Prophet (s) and Awliyaullah.
May Allah forgive us. We are in a time when everything is black and we want something to be white, not the color of the skin, but the color of the heart.
Wa min Allahi ‘t-tawfeeq, bi hurmati ‘l-Fatihah.
Many people come to me and we appreciate that. To help open their hearts, we say may Allah give everyone what he likes and what he wants. You can come any time. I am here these few days, might be for a few months. May Allah (swt) open for each of you.
Bi hurmati ‘l-Fatihah.
